Administrative Associate I (S) (Grade NC01).
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $15.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
Job Type and ScheduleThis is a temporary position. No leave or retirement benefits are offered. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). The position is part‑time, up to 32 hours per month (8 hours per week) with Monday‑Friday rotating shifts; weekend/holiday work required.
Limited overnight travel.
- Greet visitors answering questions about the State of North Carolina and its tourist facilities.
- Distribute information on attractions, events, accommodations, and provide highway routing information.
- Make hotel and motel reservations.
- Maintain brochure display racks, back‑stock, and order new/replacement brochures.
- Participate in familiarization tours and share experiences with other employees.
- Use available resources to satisfy visitor inquiries, including giving occasional presentations to schools or civic groups.
- General knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations, sales, and customer service.
- General knowledge of promotional and publicity media suitable for tourism industry development.
- Ability to learn and communicate general tourism information, including basic information regarding attractions, events, accommodations, recreational, historical, and geographic features of the state.
- Ability to assess and use tools available to provide customer service and complete assignments, including computers, Microsoft Office products, and online search engines.
- Ability to read maps.
- Pleasant demeanor with the ability to communicate tactfully and be cordial with all types of people.
- Ability to compile information and communicate it accurately.
- Ability to make group presentations.
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
