Mountain Theatre Company is seeking a qualified Light Board Operator / Lighting Assistant with experience operating theatrical lighting systems for professional musical theatre productions. In addition to operating the lighting console for Showstoppers!, this position will be responsible for the lighting for the company's two cabaret fundraiser events during the contract.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Lighting Designer, Master Electrician, Scenic/Projection Designer, and Director of Operations to ensure the consistent execution of all lighting, projection, and media elements throughout the run.

As Showstoppers! incorporates projection design, RF-controlled audience participation LED wristbands, and other integrated media effects, candidates should be proficient with QLab and comfortable collaborating directly with the Scenic/Projection Designer to ensure the seamless execution of these production elements. A strong sense of musicality is essential, as the position requires precise cue execution and synchronization in a fast-paced musical theatre environment.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate the ETC lighting console for all technical rehearsals and performances.

Program, update, and maintain lighting cues under the direction of the Lighting Designer.

Design, program, and execute the lighting for the company's two cabaret fundraiser events during the contract period.

Assist the Master Electrician with the hang, circuiting, addressing, focusing, maintenance, and strike of lighting equipment.

Assist with the programming, operation, and troubleshooting of QLab for projection, media playback, and integrated show effects.

Work directly with the Scenic/Projection Designer to execute projection cues and synchronize media elements with lighting, sound, and special effects.

Execute and monitor RF-controlled audience participation LED wristbands and other interactive production technologies.

Verify that all lighting, projection, media, and special effects systems are functioning properly prior to each rehearsal and performance, reporting any issues promptly.

Assist with troubleshooting lighting equipment, dimmers, networking, data distribution, and media playback systems.

Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the lighting booth, backstage lighting areas, and electrics equipment.

Assist with routine maintenance, repair, and inventory of lighting equipment.

Work collaboratively with the Lighting Designer, Master Electrician, Scenic/Projection Designer, Director of Operations, and other members of the production team to ensure artistic consistency throughout the run.

Assist with strike and load-out following the final performance, including the safe removal, packing, and inventory of lighting and projection equipment.

Follow all theatre safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

REQUIREMENTS

Professional experience operating ETC Eos-family lighting consoles (Ion preferred).

Experience programming and operating lighting for live musical theatre productions.

Working knowledge of QLab, including assisting with cue programming, media playback, and show control.

Experience working with projection systems and media playback.

Strong sense of musicality with the ability to execute complex cue sequences accurately and consistently.

Basic knowledge of theatrical lighting systems, DMX distribution, intelligent fixtures, LED technology, and conventional lighting equipment.

Ability to read and interpret lighting paperwork, including plots, channel hookups, magic sheets, and cue sheets.
