Job OverviewSavannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) is the management and operations contractor at the Savannah River Site since 2008. SRNS improves safety, security, and environmental stewardship through innovative solutions to national and global nuclear challenges.
ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will oversee payroll functions for the organization, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll accounting across all supported companies. This role includes leading day‑to‑day execution and building scalable processes, controls, and systems that align with company policies, federal and state regulations, and contractual requirements.
- Oversee the organization’s payroll accounting to ensure accurate and timely processing of journals and accounting reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate and timely payment for tax and garnishment payments and required state and federal filings.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws, as well as internal policies.
- Ensure appropriate controls are in place to reduce improper payments.
- Lead payroll audits and reconcile discrepancies, ensuring accuracy in all payroll‑related numbers and reports.
- Maintain and improve payroll systems and ensure seamless integration with other HR and accounting tools.
- Collaborate and contribute to any related system implementations or process improvements.
- Oversee payroll tax filings, including W‑2s, 1099s, and other year‑end reporting.
- Stay up‑to‑date with changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices to maintain compliance and improve processes.
- Work with leadership to provide needed information for business decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus at least ten years of experience, OR Master’s degree plus at least eight years of experience, OR Doctoral degree plus at least five years of experience.
- Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
- Payroll experience.
SRNS requires a DOE L or Q‑level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. A pre‑employment drug & alcohol test and background review are also required.
