Senior Business Banking Credit Underwriter

Position Overview

The Business Banking Credit Underwriter is responsible for underwriting commercial loans in accordance with the Bank’s lending policy, ensuring quality and compliance with federal and state regulations. The role involves reviewing financial statements, rendering credit decisions, and documenting outcomes.

• Review personal and business financial statements and reports to calculate financial ratios and perform creditworthiness analysis for loan applicants.
• Assist sales and fulfillment partners from application to closing, ensuring timely delivery of credit decisions within assigned authority.
• Seek and obtain concurrence for requests outside of personal credit authority, and properly document denial information for adverse action notices.
• Mentor junior colleagues through credit investigations to support team advancement.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including audits, compliance, asset recovery management, and support of other Bank initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in finance or accounting.
• At least 5 years of credit review experience, including analysis of business and personal financial statements and independent credit decision making.
• Strong knowledge of Small Business/Business Banking loan underwriting, new loan originations, financial analysis, and deal structuring.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for interaction with internal and external partners.
• Comprehensive understanding of credit and regulatory policies.
• Advanced analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Salary range: $64,491.00 – $ (base pay). Additional discretion and incentive awards may be offered.
