Occupational Summary
Plan, develop and coordinate the preparation of financial analyses and reports including, but not limited to, operational and capital budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses and other financial information; perform complex and specialized assignments in assigned area of expertise; perform lead role in coordinating complex projects.
Skill Sets Necessary to be Successful
- Must have excellent customer service skills as the position works with a wide variety of skill sets amongst its customers. Must be able to balance high volume workload of simultaneous tasks and continue to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with the use of Excel and other Microsoft applications. Must have strong accounting skills with attention to detail and accustomed to working with large volume of data to prepare analyses. Must be able to take the large volume of data and interpret/present in a manner that is concise and meaningful to ensure senior leaders are able to understand the issues presented and make sound business decisions based on the information presented.

Work Performed
Lead in University budget preparation. This includes fall/spring projections or other periodic projections as requested. Monitor budget expenditures and prepare written reports and analyses to management, setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Assist as needed in DHIP budget process.
Prepare monthly reports and perform analysis of the financial activities which includes monthly explanations of variances to budget, overdrafts, expense controls, and trending analysis. Responding to investigative concerns found including those raised by leadership.
Monthly ensure FAM validation and related procedures are completed for the department by the university deadline. Work with the central School of Medicine office to update the ICE document as requested.
Prepare CME event reconciliations in working with the departmental CME team to develop framework budgets in advance of meetings to set targets. Complete final reconciliation once event is complete and share results with leadership. Complete expense approval requests per School of Medicine guidelines for events.
Track endowment expenditures, including projection of year end balances to ensure dollars are not overspent. Audit expenditures to ensure spending is appropriate. Complete School of Medicine Endowment Transfer form as necessary.
Analyze month end cash needs and prepare entries to ensure sufficient coverage. Assist in year end close by reviewing balances, reports and making recommendations for necessary yearly entries needed to close the department’s ledger.
Financial oversight of the Merchant account. This includes account reconciliations, annual departmental compliance for training, and annual risk assessment review.
Prepare and process I-Forms, as needed, in Dukek with appropriate personnel to ensure correct information is input into the system.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Minimum Qualifications EducationWork requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field. CPA is desirable.
