The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is your fiscal watchdog. We audit more than $100 billion in state assets and liabilities each year, bringing transparency to local, state, and federal government. Our reports and findings include recommendations that result in good government reforms. OSA thoroughly investigates alleged cases of fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars, working with law enforcement on prosecution when warranted.

This position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment.

• Translate business and audit requirements into scalable technical designs, data models, processing workflows, and platform configurations
• Develop advanced Python, PySpark, and Spark SQL solutions for data ingestion, transformation, enrichment, reconciliation, and delivery
• Define and execute testing strategies for pipelines, transformations, workflows, integrations, and governed data products
• Mentor engineers working with Databricks, Python, PySpark, SQL, data pipelines, testing, deployment, and governance
• Design and implement Databricks governance structures using Unity Catalog and related platform capabilities.
• Define or support data ownership, stewardship, classification, access, certification, retention, and lifecycle requirements

Salary Range: $87,617 - $131,426

• K nowledge of deployment approaches such as Databricks Asset Bundles, infrastructure as code and configuration as code
• Thorough knowledge of enterprise data governance principles, including data ownership, stewardship, classification, metadata, lineage, retention, access control, and lifecycle management
• Experience in designing, developing and supporting production solutions in Databricks
