The Department of Psychiatry at UNC–Chapel Hill seeks a full‑time child and adolescent psychologist to work with adolescents and young adults focusing on treatment of co‑existing substance use behaviors. The psychologist will be clinically based in Butner, NC at the Youth Behavioral Hospital (YBH), with occasional time spent teaching and training at the Department of Psychiatry in Chapel Hill. The role is a full‑time fixed‑term clinical position with a rank based on applicant qualifications, supporting clinical service, teaching, and research.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements- A doctoral degree in psychology, preferably Clinical or Counseling Psychology
- Minimum of three years of experience in the field
- Experience working well in a multidisciplinary environment
- Interest and experience working with underserved hospitalized youth and families
- North Carolina licensure, Psychology, HSP
- Training in child/adolescent, adult, or family mental health with an APA‑approved internship specifically in a child training track, or a child and adolescent fellowship or equivalent
- Experience with programming and individual therapies for hospitalized children, adolescents, or young adults
- Experience with family therapy models and specialized behavioral plans (preferred)
- Experience in trauma‑informed care models in inpatient or intensive psychiatric settings
- Knowledge of trauma therapies such as trauma‑focused cognitive behavioral therapy (preferred)
- Expertise in substance use and/or dialectical behavior therapy group models (strongly preferred)
