Contract DetailsThis is a contract job opportunity with potential for permanent. Projected duration: 3 months, then permanent.
Job code: CVDJP. Minimum 1 year of experience required. Mileage expenses paid. Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
This is a float position for Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Roxboro.

Job SummaryThe main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities- Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures, and properly explain the venipuncture process or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear but courteous manner.
- Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand physicians' orders; match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Check all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% correctness.
- Package specimens for transport.
- Store specimen samples according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow different procedures as outlined by protocol to maintain specimen integrity.
- Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
- Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
