Overview
GovCIO is hiring an IT Service Technician to provide onsite support for a federal customer. The position is located in Durham, NC and requires travel occasionally for site coverage.
Responsibilities- Provide on‑call support via Service Now ticketing system.
- Consult with support teams, help desks, customers and technical staff to resolve problems.
- Coordinate and perform operation and maintenance activities for networks and servers.
- Identify recurring problems and recommend steps to reduce severity or frequency.
- Install, troubleshoot and maintain a wide variety of products and equipment.
- Deliver services and solutions in technical support, systems refresh, software integration, and operations support.
- Provide onsite training for customer support personnel.
- Perform routine system maintenance, including hardware configuration and component replacement.
- Install operating system patches, upgrades via SCCM Software Center.
- Provide remote support for telework/home users and ensure VPN/Citrix functionality.
- Manage user relocation requests and ensure device encryption.
- Local on‑site cabling and support for enterprise network and security operation centers.
- Restart and replace defective network equipment as directed by enterprise networking.
- Assist users with mobile communication devices and provide tier‑2 hardware troubleshooting, OS reinstall, and device swapping.
- Assist with physical inventory and receiving/receipting property.
- Process computer equipment for disposal, ensuring all devices are fully wiped of information before leaving the facility.
- Troubleshoot system problems and assist in setting up presentation devices and video conferencing units.
- Support pre/post application releases, gather, analyze and report end‑user support trends, and assist tier‑1 Service Desk with answering user calls.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma with 0–3 years of experience (or commensurate).
- US Citizen.
- High degree of technical proficiency.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and analytical abilities.
- Minimum 6 months experience troubleshooting Apple Macintosh software and hardware in a customer service role.
- Certification in Microsoft Operating Systems.
- Familiarity with SCCM remote resolution and remote software installation.
- CompTIA Network+.
- CompTIA A+.
- CompTIA Server+.
- CompTIA Security+.
Must be able to obtain and hold a Public Trust Clearance.
