Job Overview

Infrastructure Architect – Hybrid

Durham, NC (hybrid work)

Reports to:

Director IT Global Operations Infrastructure

• Defines, documents, and enforces system standards.
• Documents Global Infra Design – high‑level descriptions with diagrams of how Wolfspeed technologies integrate, following current architecture standards.
• Prepares Site Decision Matrixes based on employee count, application types, and business criticality, and reuses templates for new sites.
• Advise on future technology changes that present product opportunities, improving cost management and leveraging technology investments.
• Define, develop, and maintain secure, reliable, scalable infrastructure services that evolve with business requirements.
• Support operations and end‑to‑end service delivery through coordination with delivery partners, ensuring staff follow standards and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance to operations staff in day‑to‑day administrative activities.
• Improve proactive management of the environment, reducing incidents, analyzing and preventing problems, and improving performance, availability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineers to design and implement servers, storage, containers, network solutions that deliver business value, mentoring teammates on technical issues.
• Ensure environment monitoring for resource utilization, performance and capacity; report findings to management with mitigation plans.
• Monitor service delivery activities; analyze escalated support issues and drive resolution.
• Develop and maintain complete technical documentation.
• Participate in Architectural Review Board to validate designs across all technology areas.
• Work within the Data Center Operations team and partner engineers to provide input to technical design, implementation, and decision‑making, mentoring technical engineers in the Infra Team.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of professional infrastructure experience, especially with Dell, VMware, Net App, RHEL, cloud, containers, clustering, LAN/WAN, data center lifecycle, and remote access technologies.
• Deep knowledge of complex on‑premises, hybrid, and cloud networking and security infrastructure, including Dell, VMware, Net App, Cisco data center networking, and container technologies.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work with business stakeholders to understand and define requirements for small projects and enhancements.
• Experience with cloud and network architecture, scripting, and protocol specification.
• Comfortable with computing frameworks, hybrid cloud, and communications.
• Experience with scalability, HA failover, and delivering resiliency/redundancy.
• Strong architecture delivery and cloud device configuration skills.
• Ability to work non‑standard business hours as needed.
