About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of the University’s Strategic Reporting and Business Intelligence capabilities. You will be responsible for the Institutional Business Intelligence programme of work – delivering key strategic analytical outputs, integrated performance dashboards, the Management Information Hub, data lake development, and Power

BI dashboards. You will provide insights, evidence for performance assessment, KPI development, and competitive positioning, lead the Data Strategy, liaise with senior leaders, and guide the BI section in strategy, planning & insight office.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of key strategic analytical outputs related to the University’s strategic performance and planning imperatives.
  • Develop integrated performance dashboards and manage the Management Information Hub.
  • Further develop the data lake for key data sources across different areas.
  • Provide insights and evidence for assessing performance and meaningful planning, including key performance indicators and competitive positioning.
  • Lead the University’s Data Strategy, liaise with senior leaders and stakeholders to ensure progress with implementation.
  • Lead the BI section in the Strategy, Planning & Insight Office, guiding the team in strategic reporting and analytics, data lake resources, dashboards, governance, quality, literacy and culture.
  • Drive institutional change in analytics and the informed application of data insights.
  • Oversee and manage professional and regulatory standards for data and reporting.
  • Accountable for the delivery of the University’s Data Strategy and Business Intelligence Programme of work.
  • Govern prioritised Strategic Business Intelligence Reporting demand and execute the operational BI delivery roadmap.
  • Lead development of new areas of work or activities within the Business Intelligence Programme and Data Strategy.
  • Innovate and continually improve services to stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement policies, processes and standards.
  • Use professional knowledge and experience in BI to resolve problems and shape processes.
  • Orchestrate design and implementation of standardised data management and governance processes.
  • Establish guidelines for best UX and data security.
  • Support audits and ensure system compliance.
  • Deliver stakeholder training and learning activities.
  • Enable data‑driven decisions about BI and Strategic Reporting.
  • Manage strategic and business plans covering wide operational activities.
  • Set clear standards and performance indicators.
  • Allocate and monitor budgets and resources.
  • Develop team, recruit, train, delegate, and provide performance reviews.
  • Handle HR issues and support welfare.
  • Lead meetings and committees to influence policy and governance.
  • Build networks internally and externally to enhance knowledge.
  • Engage with external organisations for strategic objectives.
  • Drive the data agenda with upper management.
  • Serve as liaison between stakeholders and management.
  • Lead data governance forums.
  • Research industry best practice and apply insights.
  • Promote engagement in BI reporting.
  • Design professional development programme for stakeholders.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience).
  • Professional practitioner with specialist knowledge and expertise to influence service delivery.
  • Experience working in Higher Education with key internal and external datasets for strategic performance analytics and benchmarking.
  • Experience providing specialist advice and guidance to a range of customers and senior colleagues.
  • Experience participating in networks to share good practice and develop relationships.
  • Experience implementing policies and procedures and supporting service improvements.
  • Track record of cross‑functional management and development or an enhanced management qualification applied across a large service team.
