Information Technology Services, in collaboration with the campus community, provides technological solutions and services for students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of the university mission and strategic plan. The Information Security Services office is responsible for advancing and supporting the university’s cybersecurity, governance, risk management, and compliance initiatives. The office works collaboratively with the rest of Information Technology Services and campus stakeholders to protect institutional information assets, support regulatory and policy requirements, reduce institutional cyber risk, and promote a culture of information security awareness while enabling the university’s academic, research, and administrative mission.
PrimaryPurpose of Position
The IT Security Professional Analyst supports the institution’s information security program through risk management, compliance, vulnerability management, and security operations activities. This role emphasizes both proactive and reactive cybersecurity practices, policy development and validation, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to protect institutional data, systems, and research assets.
The position reports to the Chief Information Security Officer, assisting with implementing and maintaining security controls, responding to cybersecurity events, supporting governance and compliance initiatives, and promoting security best practices across the university environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with information security concepts including vulnerability management, incident response, identity and access management, endpoint security, email security, and risk management.
- Ability to analyze, investigate, and respond to cybersecurity events, alerts, and operational issues.
- Familiarity with enterprise technologies, cloud-based services, and security‑related platforms.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and interpret security documentation, governance, and technical information.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse university environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
