Snowflake Lead

Job Location:

Remote (but onsite in Raleigh, NC or Durham, NC, 3 days a month)

Tech (Qualification) Notes:

Skillset (top 3-5):

• Snowflake (specifically, need to have migrated from Oracle to Snowflake)
• ETL experience (from on-prem to cloud, can be any tooling)
• Cloud storage (AWS S3 preferred, can be Azure Blob or GCP Google Storage okay)
• BI experience (need to have experience w/ BI on Snowflake)
• SnowSQL
• Snowpipes

JD:

• Architect level candidate who has worked specifically on an Oracle to Snowflake migration project
• They will be migrating from Oracle to S3 buckets in AWS to Snowflake--do not specifically need experience in AWS, can be another cloud platform. Will not be leveraging any other AWS services. Just need to know how to build pipelines to get data from Oracle-->

  Snowflake. Will also need to know how to parse and cache data to be able to identify new data within the pipelines to load only the new vs. batch loading/overloading all data.
• Need to know Snowflake inside and out--performance tuning, performance management, scaling, SnowSQL and Snowpipe builds
• Don't have a plan in place for getting data out of Oracle to AWS--this person will be able to consult on what to use, whether it's Spark or an ETL tool they'll need to get a license for. Can tell them what they've done in the past and had success with.
• All BI operations will need to be in Snowflake eventually. PowerBI preferred, OBIEE or Tableau okay. Need to have either migrated BI tool to Snowflake or used one that pulls from Snowflake (over Oracle) to consult on how they can leverage the same reporting tools that are now using data from Oracle on Snowflake.
• # of years doesn't matter, but needs expertise (est. 5 years)
• Will initially be more hands-off. Need to help with the design, road mapping, etc. And then once they start the dev phase will be both participating in some hands-on and leading the team. Est. 3 data engineers. Don't know Snowflake yet but this person will also need to help upskill them.
