Technical Project Manager III
Labcorp is seeking a Technical Project Manager III to join our team in Durham, NC. Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.
This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.
Job Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end delivery of enterprise IT projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Manage projects with budgets ranging from $1M to $3M, team sizes of 10 to 25 resources, and timelines of 12 to 18 months.
- Orchestrate integrated planning across multiple work streams and dependent teams.
- Manage resource allocation and leveling across project phases.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues, including development of mitigation and contingency plans.
- Facilitate governance activities, including stage gates, status reporting, and executive updates.
- Convert project status into actionable decisions and drive alignment among stakeholders.
- Lead project meetings, steering committees, and decision forums.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure adherence to statements of work (SOWs) and delivery commitments.
- Monitor project financials and optimize spend relative to business value.
- Coordinate validation planning and compliance activities where applicable.
- Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives and implementation of lessons learned.
- Ensure delivery metrics are tracked and used to maintain project health and performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Business, with 5 or more years of experience in IT project management
- 5 or more years of experience leading end-to-end IT project delivery
- 3 or more years of experience managing projects involving multiple work streams or cross-functional teams
- 3 or more years of experience managing project budgets, timelines, and resource planning
- 2 or more years of experience managing third-party vendors or external partners
- Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Business with 3 or more years of experience in IT project management
- 1 or more professional certification such as PMI CAPM or APM Associate certification
- 3 or more years of experience working in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated industries
- 3 or more years of experience using project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, and Confluence
- 2 or more years of experience using portfolio management or visualization tools such as Clarity PPM or Lucid
- Ability to manage complex projects with multiple dependencies and stakeholders
- Ability to facilitate meetings and drive decision-making outcomes
- Ability to anticipate risks and proactively address challenges
- Strong financial and operational awareness related to project delivery
- Strong vendor management and negotiation capabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders in a matrixed environment
- Ability to balance competing priorities and make decisions under pressure
- Ability to foster collaboration and continuous improvement within project teams
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for leading complex, cross-functional IT initiatives from initiation through completion. This role manages integrated planning across multiple work streams, drives risk and change management, and ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business objectives. The position partners with stakeholders, vendors, and delivery teams to drive execution discipline, governance, and measurable outcomes across enterprise initiatives.
