About This Role

As a Buyer at Biogen, you will play a crucial role in our cross-functional team, ensuring that GMP/raw materials are procured efficiently and in compliance with established policies, strategies, and procedures. You will be responsible for maximizing returns on external spend while facilitating on-time and compliant procurement of goods and services necessary for manufacturing production campaigns. Your focus will be on minimizing excess and obsolete inventory (E&O) and maintaining cost-containment strategies.

In this individual contributor position, you will work closely with various departments to ensure seamless procurement operations, contributing significantly to Biogen's manufacturing success and financial objectives.

• Ensure all procurement transactions undergo proper due diligence review and documentation before conversion into a purchase order.
• Responsible for interfacing with Inventory Planning group to execute a purchasing strategy that is intended to ensure 100% compliance with financial objectives and site manufacturing goals.
• Collaborate with and engage internal stakeholders, including Quality, Supply Chain, Materials Science, and other cross-functional teams.
• Interact with suppliers on the communication of purchase orders, status, confirmation and delivery.
• Work to resolve any supplier issues and elevate as needed. Participate in meetings to review and resolve supplier delays/issues.
• Ensure adherence to supply agreement conditions
• Facilitate information exchange with suppliers concerning lead times, quantity discounts, and vendor-specific issues impacting procurement timelines.

You are an experienced procurement professional, ideally with purchasing experience in a GMP-regulated environment. Experience purchasing raw materials, such as chemicals, filters, consumables, or related manufacturing materials, is preferred. You enjoy collaborating with diverse subject-matter experts and can work independently as well as part of a team.

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 1-3 years of related purchasing experience
• Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Workable knowledge of ERP systems (SAP/Oracle).
• Ability to run reports and update metrics as needed.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to present data logically and understandably to internal and external audiences.

• Experience in the pharma/biotech industry or GMP environment.
• CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Chain) certification.

The base compensation range for this role is: $62,000.00-$81,000.00
