Job Details

This position is responsible for supervising the operations of a specific hatchery by monitoring the day-to-day activities as well as formulating strategies for future improvement. This includes completing the chick delivery sheets as well as flock pull sheets and mortality charts keeping logs on each truck consisting of miles and hours worked by each driver and ensuring movement of chicks to farms according to the shipment schedule.

Other responsibilities include monitoring the incubation and hatchery equipment as well as the environmental control equipment overseeing chick deliver and pick-up and supervising personnel on a daily basis. Other duties include grading fleets of eggs from hen farms preparing vaccines to be given to the chickens and performing other responsibilities as the need arises. Any other duties as assigned by manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete chick delivery sheets, flock pull sheets, and mortality charts.
  • Keep logs on truck miles and hours worked by drivers.
  • Logistics:
    Ensure the movement of chicks to farms according to the shipment schedule.
  • Equipment Monitoring:
    Oversee incubation, hatchery, and environmental control equipment.
  • Supervision:
    Supervise personnel on a daily basis.
  • Egg Grading:
    Grade fleets of eggs from hen farms.
  • Vaccination:
    Prepare vaccines for chickens.
  • Additional Duties:
    Perform other responsibilities as needed and any other duties assigned by the manager.
Qualifications Education

Post-high school education including special training, vocational school, or college courses.

Experience

2 years of experience in a hatchery setting or live production area.

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills.

Travel

1-2 trips per year.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise personnel in a single department or work unit.

Biosecurity

Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild or exotic fowl to be considered, required to sign a Bio-security agreement to avoid any non-commercial avian species examples: chickens, ducks, birds, parakeets, parrots, etc. The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
