An established contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent with a specialized background in Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) construction to lead projects across North Carolina. This role is responsible for the direct supervision of all field operations, ensuring the successful delivery of complex treatment plant facilities and associated infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a gold-standard safe jobsite and strictly enforce all OSHA and environmental safety policies.
- Ensure all WWTP project quality standards are met, with a focus on leak-proof structures and mechanical precision.
- Lead daily field operations, managing manpower, heavy equipment, and short-term scheduling.
- Coordinate with local North Carolina regulatory agencies for permits and inspections.
- Oversee all field documentation, including daily logs, progress photos, and reporting.
- Manage high-value inventory, including specialized pumps, valves, and treatment equipment.
- Direct subcontractors and manage on-site hiring to meet project labor demands.
- Maintain accurate as-built drawings and participate in final project handovers.
- Ensure projects hit critical milestones to stay on time and within budget.
- Identify scope changes immediately and communicate them to the Project Manager.
- Maintain a highly organized, efficient, and professional jobsite.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Superintendent on Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) or water utility projects.
- Strong background in managing craft labor and self-performing critical path work.
- Hands-on expertise in cast-in-place concrete (tanks/basins), process piping, and mechanical equipment installation.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage large field crews.
- Tech-savvy with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Current
Certifications:
Competent Person (Trenching, Confined Space, Rigging), OSHA 10/30-hour, and SWPPP Inspector. - Proven track record of delivering multi-million-dollar municipal or industrial water projects.
