It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community.

Description of Work Reporting to the Associate Warden of Operations, this position is responsible for the supervision of subordinate staff. Position responsibilities include the following:

Key Duties Included:

Conducts shift line-up, makes shift assignments and inspects all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post Complete reviews and maintain employee time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms

Ensure that all assigned equipment is operational, provide daily inspection of offenders’ living areas, medical, kitchen areas and the facility to identify possible safety hazards and to ensure the operation is running smoothly

Identify training needs and coordinate delivery of training to subordinate staff.

Conduct investigations, searches of staff, visitors and offenders for contraband and respond to emergency situations as needed

Will serve as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the facility when his/her rotation is working in the absence of the Associate Warden of Operations and custody.

/Management Preferences Salary Range: $39,244.00 - $68,679.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

Documented experience with report writing.

Documented knowledge of Prison Policies and Procedures/or Facility Operations.
