Description of Work

This position is located at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton, Burke County, NC. Foothills Correctional Institution is a close/minimum custody Male facility housing 712 single cells.

This position is located in the Maintenance Department and is responsible for performing preventive and routine corrective maintenance tasks and ensuring that assigned systems, equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. Position reports to the facility Maintenance Supervisor.

Key Duties
  • Supervise staff and oversee offender work assignments to ensure productivity and compliance
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage projects, including task delegation and meeting established deadlines
  • Ensure completion of preventative and corrective maintenance tasks in a safe, timely, and efficient manner
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Operate and maintain a variety of tools, machinery, and equipment
  • Remain available for on-call duties and respond to after-hours maintenance needs
Salary Grade

Salary Grade: $41,206-$72,113
- Salary Grade NC09

About The Division of Institutions

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
