Description of Work Reporting to the Correctional Lieutenant I, this position is responsible for providing first-line supervision to Correctional Officer I’s in a minimum custody security facility. Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to, the following:

- Assigning lower level custody staff to a particular area or post.

- Overseeing officer activities and performance, and ensuring that the custody, security and welfare of offenders are maintained.

- Assigning work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy.

/Management Preferences Salary Range: $37,377.00 - $65,408.00

Necessary Special Qualifications :

MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
Pass a criminal background check

Produce a negative drug screening result

Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations

Possess a valid driver’s license

This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits .Note to Current State Employees :

The salary grade for this position is NC07. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
