Position: Electrical Team Lead (Direct Hire, Manufacturing)

Description

We are looking for a Team Lead in our Switchgear division! The ideal person is someone who communicates with clear and concise guidance, one who is proactive in identifying solutions before problems arise, champions a safety‑centric culture, and goes above and beyond to achieve superior quality on the products we manufacture.

Summary

The Team Leader will be responsible for the personnel and product in their work center(s). They will handle personnel training, quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives in their area. Product and personnel status will be measured and reported to the Production Supervisor. Team Leads are responsible for monitoring and managing the completion of shop orders and operations as determined by the part number routing, ensuring operations are completed on time and at or under the allotted labor hours.

They actively manage the safety culture, implement refined policies, and ensure their cells are in safe working order. They also review quality data to ensure that manufacturing quality is improving and that the MoM and work instructions are updated to reflect corrective actions.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills)
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Organization and time‑management skills; this position requires managing multiple critical tasks concurrently.
  • Efficient planning to meet project schedule deadlines, while maintaining contingency plans to preserve committed timelines.
  • Advanced understanding of production workflows and prioritization.
  • Ability to recognize individual strengths and developmental needs within the team; constructs training to encourage proficiency and overall employee productivity within the cell.
  • Advanced competency using ERPs in a manufacturing environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Team leaders will be responsible for as many as 15 operators and all shop orders within their department’s work centers.
  • Maintain accurate service records, construct preventative maintenance plans, schedule equipment services while mitigating unnecessary interruptions to production schedules.
  • Accurately maintain compliance of all required documentation and production reporting.
  • Steward of quality: observe machine operation, technician output, identify defects and deviations from standards. Utilize discrepancy data to troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis; provide solutions and training to mitigate non‑compliance.
  • Set the pace of work within the cell utilizing IFS routings and data to determine if expectations are met.
  • Review part number routings before beginning work, reporting issues to the Production Supervisor.
  • Accurately report schedule – on time/late/ahead of schedule.
  • Use forecast planning to mitigate parts shortages and ensure timely notification is sent to material handlers, preventing interruptions in production.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing traveler and Bus BoM/Kanban usage, filling in appropriate locations upon job completion.
  • Accurately maintain and review hours allocated to jobs, ensure precise reporting, while preparing for contingency planning to mitigate excessive O&M expenditures.
  • Responsible for team safety and improvement initiatives.
  • Process change requests from ECOs on SO within the cell.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires standing, stooping, bending, and limited lifting of up to 50 lbs. Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold, noise intensity level, toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and proximity to moving mechanical parts.
