Wastewater Technician

Your Opportunity as a Wastewater Treatment Technician

Ensure that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment, and other wastewater treatment equipment are functioning properly. Monitor equipment for potential failures and may make minor repairs or adjustments as needed. Collect water samples for chemical analysis.

Location:

1969 Victory Dr, Columbus, GA 31901 (Hostess Manufacturing Plant). Work arrangements: 100% on-site, Day Shift 6am-6pm (flexibility required). Compensation: $38.64/hr benefits:

• Monitor all flows into and out of wastewater equipment.
• Add chemicals such as ammonia or chlorine to disinfect water or other liquids.
• Inspect equipment regularly.
• Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges.
• Collect and test water and sewage samples.
• Record meter and gauge readings and operational data.
• Operate equipment to purify and clarify water or to process or dispose of sewage.
• Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter beds, and other work areas.
• Follow U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
• Ensure safety standards are met.
• Work with outside pumping contractors and local contractors as needed.
• Maintain clean wastewater building, flume, and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• State of Georgia wastewater license required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a wastewater operator preferred.
• Understanding of commercial bakeries and bakery equipment.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater processes and equipment operation.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Personal computer skills; comfortable with MS Excel and Word.
• Familiarity with hand tools, grinder, welder, oxy‑lance torch, pipe threader, bender, hard hat, safety glasses, meters, and cutters.

This job operates in a manufacturing environment with a loud noise level.

• Regularly required to talk and hear.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds frequently.
• May push and pull heavy trash carts, dough carts, portable equipment, and catch pans.
• Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
