Safety Manager - Manufacturing

International Manufacturer located North of Durham, North Carolina is looking for a key player that will manage all of the Safety activity at the NC plant location.

They will report directly to the Plant Mgr and work with Quality Mgr, Maintenance Mgr and Production Mgr(s).

The right individual will have experience in safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and handle all initiatives related to Plant Safety.
• Conduct analysis and detailed studies to establish optimum production standards for varied and complex manufacturing operations.
• Be responsible for preparing daily, weekly and monthly production and safety reports.
• Support all production departments through data statistical analysis.
• Serve as the Team Leader on continuous improvement events.
• Review and prepare changes in ISO work instructions and procedures.
• Participate as an ISO internal auditor.
• Attend production and planning meetings.
• Work closely with quality assurance team to ensure consistent performance of quality checks and appropriate response to results.
• Support the needs of the production facility by issuing, prioritizing and preparing production schedules as a backup to the Production Planner.
• Interface with product team members, R&D, sales, production and maintenance floor staff, and operations managers, using proven interpersonal skills.
• Prioritize multiple projects and work independently.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Plant Manager.

Requirements

• A Bachelor degree in Safety or Industrial Engineering or another relevant field - MUST
• 2 to 10 years of industrial/manufacturing experience - MUST
• Knowledge of statistical process controls.
• Experience with lean manufacturing/Six Sigma a plus.
