Job Purpose

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports machining lines and other production areas, focusing on improving quality, process flow, and automation. The role bridges engineering resources and the production floor, implementing safety, quality, and process improvements. Work scope includes process development, process analysis, and engineering tasks as needed to improve the quality of production and process flow, and support new production introductions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering and production, assisting with the implementation of safety, quality, and process improvements.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing managers, engineers, vendors, and customers to ensure satisfaction and effective communication.
  • Support complex department projects, including planning, training, implementation, and documentation of solutions.
  • Create and update work instructions, first piece sheets, and other production support documentation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, part vision, and controls issues on automated lines and complex part balancing equipment.
  • Support and assist in the development of effective automated and manual systems for machining lines.
  • Assist in the development of CNC machining operations including milling, turning, grinding, and verification systems with in‑process and post‑process gauging methods/systems.
  • Assist in development of additional operations such as friction welding, laser marking, stress relieving, annealing, roll threading, and component balancing.
  • Perform tests and analyze data to improve department functions and support daily manufacturing.
  • Assist the maintenance team with preventive maintenance and machine repairs on departmental equipment.
  • Assist the Department Manager, Production Facilitator, and Engineering with implementation of new or modified production lines and provide technical support to complex production processes and machinery.
  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers and contractors for installation and upgrades of production equipment.
  • Work with Manufacturing Tool Design to develop concepts for fixtures, cutting tools and new products.
  • Make recommendations for improving machining operations, design changes, tooling changes, and manufacturing processes for cost efficiency.
  • Inspect machined parts using indicators, micrometers, calipers and related devices for optimal accuracy.
  • Assist in procurement of new tooling and fixtures.
  • Test and evaluate new programs and perform necessary edits.
  • Work with minimal supervision and manage processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
