Mechanical Technician IIAbout the Role
- Assemble, test, and maintain complex mechanical systems and components to meet required specifications.
- Work closely with engineers and senior technicians to ensure the quality and reliability of flight hardware.
- Assemble major structures, perform part‑fitting operations for spacecraft systems, and translate blueprints into mechanical assemblies.
- Perform precision drilling, use calibrated tools, bond components, troubleshoot, and develop advanced precision cleaning skills.
- Work independently on complex mechanical assemblies involving soldering, harness routing, inspection, in‑process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication.
- Inspect, assemble, integrate, and operationally check flight hardware while meeting specifications and standards.
- Use precision measurement tools to ensure components meet specified tolerances while adhering to PPE and shop safety requirements.
- Follow 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols; lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in restrictive spaces.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals.
- 2+ years of experience in a mechanical or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements.
- Ability to perform intermediate equipment setup and maintenance activities, demonstrating mechanical aptitude and competency with hand and precision tools.
- Proficiency in precision cleaning.
- Knowledge of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.
- Ability to conduct verification and troubleshooting of own work.
- Proficient understanding of mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in‑process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication.
- Certifications:
IPC, J‑STD, A&P License. - Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency using hand and power tools.
- Understanding of mechanical systems and components.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Pay Range: $25.10 - $34.51
