The Role About PROTECT3D

PROTECT3D, a Durham, NC company, manufactures custom 3D-printed braces, orthotics, and supports. Using only a smartphone scan, we design, print, and deliver products like our AFO, CMC brace, and foot orthotics nationwide in as little as 48 hours. We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Manufacturing Technician to help run our production floor — from operating printers to prepping and shipping finished products. This is a great fit for someone who's comfortable jumping between a computer and a workbench, likes seeing a physical product come together, and takes pride in doing careful work.

It's a part-time (with a path to full-time based on performance) role based at our downtown Durham lab.

What You'll Do
  • Run the printers — operate and monitor our 3D printers, including loading and managing print jobs
  • Support print prep — help with slicing and print setup using our software tools
  • Post-process parts — sand, finish, and clean up printed parts to spec
  • Assemble products — put together finished devices with care and attention to detail
  • Handle fulfillment — pack, ship, and manage orders out the door
Who We're Looking For

We want someone dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with both software and their hands. No specific experience required — if you're reliable, careful, and quick to pick things up, we'll teach you the rest.

Required
  • High school diploma (or currently enrolled)
  • Comfortable with software and picking up new tools quickly
  • Comfortable with hands-on work — sanding, assembly, and detail work
  • Dependable and organized
  • Reliable transportation to our downtown Durham lab
Preferred
  • Interest in manufacturing, medical devices, or 3D printing
  • Availability for consistent morning shifts
Schedule & Compensation
  • Hours: 15-20 hours/week; morning shifts preferred (ideal window 11:00 AM–1:30 PM; flexible anywhere within 10:00 AM–5:00 PM)
  • Pay: $15–25/hour, depending on experience and performance
  • Location: In person — downtown Durham, NC (West Main Street)
