Youth Ministry Coordinator
Kindred Church | Durham, NC | Part-Time, 15 Hours/Week

Kindred Church is seeking a relational, thoughtful, and self-directed Youth Ministry Coordinator to serve as the primary leader for our ministry with middle and high school students.

Kindred is a growing, contemporary United Methodist congregation in Durham. We are deeply rooted in Scripture and the historic Christian faith, fully LGBTQ+ affirming, and committed to helping people experience the inclusive love of Jesus and take their next steps of faith.

The Youth Ministry Coordinator will help shape a ministry in which students build meaningful relationships, engage Scripture and faith honestly, and experience authentic belonging. This person will work in close collaboration with Kindred’s existing Youth Ministry Leadership Team of invested adult volunteers, building on the foundation they have already established while helping the ministry grow in clarity, effectiveness, and shared leadership.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Planning and leading a consistent youth gathering during the school year
  • Building trusted, appropriate relationships with students
  • Collaborating with, equipping, and growing the adult volunteer leadership team
  • Partnering with parents and caregivers
  • Maintaining a ministry culture that is relational, spiritually substantive, welcoming of questions, and fully LGBTQ+ affirming
  • Ensuring compliance with Safe Sanctuaries policies and maintaining strong ministry systems

This is a high‑ownership role for someone with experience in youth ministry, student ministry, education, mentoring, or a related field. Strong candidates will be pastoral and relational, able to lead collaboratively, comfortable working independently, and enthusiastic about helping teenagers grow in faith.

The position requires approximately 15 hours per week
. Consistent Sunday availability is required
; the remaining schedule is generally flexible.
