Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for the Duke Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine
, primarily at Duke Perinatal Consultants of Durham as well as Duke Perinatal Consultants of Cary and Raleigh.

The APP will work in collaboration with the attending physicians and advanced practice providers, providing direct patient care, performing consultations, collecting and documenting data, assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and ordering and scheduling laboratory studies.

Job Hours

Primary hours will be Monday through Friday. Clinical and administrative sessions are generally 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, with hours flexible to meet patient needs. There is a possibility of weekend hours in the future with extended and alternative hours expected upon request/scheduling needs. There is a possibility of assignment to other General OB-GYN sites as needed to provide the best patient access.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collect patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record data in the patient’s record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and develop therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Order, schedule and review laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
OBSTETRICAL CARE

Obstetrical care including but not limited to:

  • Provide obstetric care to prenatal patients from the initial obstetric visit through pregnancy and postpartum visit.
  • Perform new obstetric exams with identification of problems complicating pregnancy or pre-existing to pregnancy.
  • Perform FHR assessment, NST interpretation, pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment.
  • Initiate plan of care/diagnostic testing/interpretation of labs/treatment plan based on the individual patient medical/surgical history; prescribe necessary treatment and services for quality patient care; report progress to collaborating physician and maintain record of each patient’s progress.
  • Provide patient education relating to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care.
  • Collaborate with other NP/PAs to ensure clinic and telephone triage coverage.
GYNECOLOGICAL CARE

Gynecological care including but not limited to:

  • Methods of family planning and counseling for reproductive life planning
  • IUD/Nexplanon placement/removal
  • Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections
Job Eligibility Requirements Education
  • Nurse Practitioners:
    Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
