Position Overview

Position: Registered Nurse

Job Type: Full‑Time / Non‑Exempt

Shift Details: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am (Rotating nights)

Work Location: Crisis – NC Durham, 309 Crutchfield Street

Salary/Hourly Wage: $36.00 – $39.00/hour

Sign‑on OR Retention Bonus: $12,000

Summary of Job

The RN oversees medical, psychiatric, substance‑abuse, and nursing care for individuals served. The RN also serves as a clinical liaison for designated individuals until they are enrolled in services at another community facility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Guest Care & Advocacy
    • Coordinates services with public and private community health, mental health and social service agencies.
    • Assists individuals with preparation and recording of the service planning process.
    • Conducts assessments and treatment plans.
    • Provides individual and family counseling.
    • Participates in the development of educational curriculum.
    • Supervises and/or provides nursing treatment and monitoring (e.g., diabetes, blood pressure).
    • Responds to crisis calls for assessment and pertinent intervention.
    • Coordinates outside medical and nursing support services, including pharmacy and laboratory.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Administers medication as required by protocol.
    • Completes clinical documentation as required.
    • Stays informed of federal and state regulations and company policies.
    • Adheres to company compliance standards, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policies.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration
    • Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to improve productivity, efficiency, recovery outcomes, and medical care.
  • Additional Duties
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

To perform this job successfully, candidates must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, including:

  • Education & Licenses
    • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse;
      Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
    • Valid and current state‑specific Nursing license (Compact preferred).
  • Experience
    • Minimum of one year in a behavioral health setting.
  • Skills
    • Knowledge of psychiatric medications, indications, side effects, reactions, and interactions.
    • Basic computer proficiency.
    • Attention to detail, problem‑solving, assessment and treatment planning.
    • Clear verbal and written communication; effective listening.
    • Excellent documentation skills.
    • Trauma‑Informed Care experience preferred.
    • Bilingual preferred.
    • Ability to pass de‑escalation training (state requirements).
  • Driving & Miscellaneous
    • Must meet driving policy requirements if driving is required.
    • Non‑driver attestation if not meeting driving policy.
    • Travel as needed for business.
    • Minimum age 18 (or state‑specific exceptions).
    • Complete comprehensive credentialing program.
    • Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
  • Background Checks
    • Pass a seven‑year background check.
    • Pass substance abuse or tuberculosis testing (if applicable).
    • Pass education verification.
    • Obtain fingerprint clearance (state‑specific).
    • Pass motor vehicle report if driving required.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
