Clinical Nurse IV Leader - Peds Transplant and Cellular Therapy/Oncology at Duke University Health System.
Location:
Durham, North Carolina. The role provides local level leadership in administration, education, informatics and quality within the Pediatrics Transplant and Cellular Therapy/Oncology area.
- Identify care needs for patient populations across the continuum of care.
- Collaborate and provide leadership in development of standards of care, patient/family education and staff education to address the needs of specific populations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide leadership in the delivery of patient care.
- Provide leadership in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects and other health-related projects.
- Provide evaluation, direction and guidance in the proper selection, use, care and control of material resources.
- Appraise quality and effectiveness of materials and equipment; assist with vendor selection and feedback on performance.
- Guide professional growth of others through role modeling, coaching and mentoring; may include orientation modules and primary precepting of senior nursing students.
- Provide leadership for initiatives focused on improving quality of care and growth of staff; conduct performance reviews and participate in personnel actions as needed.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Monitor clinical practice and ensure compliance with practice standards and regulatory standards; coach and mentor nursing colleagues; influence recruitment and development of staff.
- Plan and deliver in-house education sessions; stay current with evidence-based nursing practices; assess educational needs of staff.
- Serve as a superuser for clinical information systems; disseminate information to staff and provide training and technology education support; facilitate adoption of new technology.
- Collaborate on quality, research and innovation initiatives; participate in multidisciplinary committees focused on quality and patient safety; support nursing staff in quality assurance and best practices.
- Engage in research and innovation initiatives to develop new methodologies and technologies for enhancing patient care.
- Knowledge of nursing scope of practice for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and unlicensed staff; nursing process; professional theory, practice and procedure.
- Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and families; resourceful and collaborative; strong communication and teaching abilities.
- Ability to use information technology, provide documentation, and navigate care environments; stamina for prolonged standing and walking; maintain focus and organization.
- Competent in BLS and other life support requirements as designated; capable of assessing, planning and evaluating patient care; knowledge of infection control and safety procedures; awareness of regulatory requirements (The Joint Commission and others).
Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing may be required.
EducationWork requires graduation from an accredited nursing program with a BSN degree.
ExperienceThree years of experience required. Clinical Nurse II and III are eligible to apply for the CN IV Leader role; applicants will perform the duties and responsibilities of the CN IV.
Certifications/LicensesCurrent or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
