Position Overview
Registered Nurse – Radiation Oncology Clinic at Duke Cancer Center (North Durham).
Shift InformationFull‑time, 40 hours per week. Clinic
Hours:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
- Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.
- Apply the nursing process to assess patients, develop individualized plans of care, and document all interventions.
- Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers.
- Act as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit as assigned.
- Monitor and initiate corrective actions to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain required competencies.
- Serve as preceptor and mentor other staff and formal learners.
- Participate in clinical or operational performance‑improvement activities.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Knowledge of RN scope of practice and the nursing process.
- Ability to assess and manage the needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Competency in documenting and communicating pertinent information using electronic and paper records.
- Proficiency in BLS and other specialized life‑support requirements.
- Understanding of infection‑control procedures and safety precautions.
- Ability to operate within regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., TJC).
- Graduation from an accredited BSN program (or exception for specific dates as noted).
- Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience.
- Current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina; BLS required.
