The Abdominal Transplant (6
DCT) Unit consists of 37 beds and provides care for patients undergoing various organ transplants including liver, kidney, pancreas, small bowel, and hand transplants.
RN to patient ratio is 1:3-4. Nursing duties include diabetes management, pain and wound care, telemetry, oxygen therapy, blood product administration, and IV management.
Responsibilities- Plan, provide, and document professional nursing care in accordance with physician orders and established policies, under the supervision of the team leader or charge nurse.
- Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
- Assist other healthcare personnel in patient care.
- Maintain the environment of care, including equipment and resources; prioritize work organization and identify resources.
- Participate in professional development by maintaining required competencies and seeking appropriate education.
- Support development of staff and formal learners.
- Identify clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assist in improvement activities.
- Document assessments, plans, interventions, and evaluations; manage acute and chronically ill patients.
- Educate patients and families according to nursing plan of care.
- Manage relationships with patients, families, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, and leadership.
- Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s, Associate's, or Diploma in Nursing.
- For BSN required candidates: enrollment in a BSN program within two years of start date and completion within seven years.
- Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse.
- BLS Certification.
