Job SummaryAs a Registered Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a patient‑centered atmosphere. The RN is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities. Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) to achieve the goals of the nursing department. Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients guided by the DUHS Professional Practice model.
Participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects or other health‑related projects as assigned.
Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Adhere to all rules and regulations at all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participate in outstanding customer service and maintain respectful relationships.
ShiftUnit Orientation:
Monday–Friday, five 8‑hour day shifts (6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.)
Post‑orientation:
Monday–Friday, four 10‑hour shifts (6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), with on‑call, holidays, and weekends as needed. (The schedule is subject to change based on unit needs.)
- Previous Operating Room work experience (1+ years) as a clinical nurse preferred; at least one year previous work experience as a registered nurse required for a CN2 role. Scrubbing and/or Circulating required.
- Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program required.
- Registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and complete within seven years.
- Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse or current compact RN licensure to practice in the state required.
- Professional specialty certification preferred.
