Clinical Nurse II – Endocrinology

Location: 4825 Creekstone Drive, Durham, NC 27703

Job Summary

We are seeking a TRIAGE NURSE to be an integral member of our Endocrinology healthcare team. The position will manage this patient population via telehealth to coordinate care with providers. This role is based in Durham, NC at a non‑clinical office site and involves patient interactions via telephone and secure messaging.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing triage, assessment, and education to patients via telephone interactions and secure messaging.
  • Manage patient needs including medication management, post‑procedure instructions, and care coordination.
  • Serve as a liaison to patients, family members, and referring providers with guidance from pulmonary providers.
  • Collect and analyze patient data, make recommendations for nursing care plans, evaluate nursing care provided, document and communicate appropriate nursing actions taken and patient responses.
  • Delegate tasks and direct the activities of unlicensed care providers (schedulers, Medical Assistants, and Staff Assistants).
  • Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs, and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
  • Participate in performance improvement and patient experience activities.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Job Eligibility Requirements
  • Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and complete the program within seven years of their start date.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience and 1 year of med‑surg experience.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina. BLS required.
Job Hours

Hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. No weekends or Duke designated holidays. Upon onboarding, the work can be performed as a hybrid model with a rotating schedule of working remotely and from the office.
