Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Duke Primary Care South Durham

Compensation: $10,000 Commitment Bonus for eligible candidates.

Location: 234 Crooked Creek Parkway, Suite 200, Durham, NC 27713

Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday

• Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed and maintain records.
• Provide direct care to patients under the supervision of a nurse or doctor.
• Follow the doctor’s orders and nursing care plan for patient care.
• Report patient responses to a nurse for evaluation and adjustments to the care plan.
• Assist other healthcare staff in delivering patient care.
• Help doctors and nurses with diagnostic procedures.
• Assess nursing care, patient responses, and prioritize nursing tasks.
• Help develop and implement policies to ensure patient comfort and safety and participate in creating new policies.
• Contribute to maintaining the care environment, including equipment and supplies.
• Identify and assist in improving clinical and operational performance.
• Assist in managing supplies and equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the charge nurse.
• Participate in training programs and help train new staff.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

• Graduation from an approved or accredited Practical Nurse program.

• None required.

• Current State of North Carolina LPN licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) required.

• Ability to find resources independently and collaborate with others.
• Clear communication with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, and leadership; can teach patients and families based on the care plan.
• Ability to process and prioritize information, treatment, and follow‑up using sensory and cognitive functions.
• Competent in BLS and other required life support certifications.
• Proficient in fine motor skills.
• Accurately record activities and document interventions.
• Ability to use computers and learn new software.
• Navigate the healthcare system to provide patient care.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods.
• Stay focused and organized.
• Knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures relevant to the role.
• Familiarity with administering routine and special treatments to patients.
• Understanding of sanitation, hygiene, and health safety in a hospital setting.
• Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of and compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory requirements.
