Department Profile:
Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time. The Duke Regional Vascular Surgery and Podiatry Clinics seek CMA’s a Registered Nurse to provide clinical nursing support for a vascular surgery practice, including patient assessment, telephone triage, care coordination, patient education, and pre- and post-operative care management. Collaborates closely with providers and multidisciplinary teams to support patients with vascular disease, wound care needs, threatened limb conditions, and podiatric concerns.

Delegates appropriate clinical tasks to medical assistants, oversees clinical workflow, and ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care in the ambulatory setting. Responsible for coordinating diagnostic testing, referrals, procedures, and follow-up care for a medically complex patient population.

Occ Summary

Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients in accordance with guidelines established within the Discipline of Nursing Clinical Ladder Program; participate in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects or other health related projects as assigned. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Work Performed

Identify care needs for patient populations at the unit level. Provide leadership in the development of standards of care, patient/family education and staff education to address the needs of specific populations. Participate in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects and other health-related projects as assigned. Provide direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control of material resources; appraise quality and effectiveness of material and equipment and communicate to responsible individuals.

Anticipate potential safety concerns in the environment of care and intervene. Guide the professional growth of others at the unit level through precepting, role modeling, coaching and/or mentoring. Provide leadership at a unit level for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes for populations of patients and growth of others. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse and Unlicensed staff.
