We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider in our Duke Health Center Arringdon clinic in Morrisville, NC. This position is primarily based at Arringdon but may rotate to other Duke Cardiology practice locations, including Duke Cardiology Clinic (Clinic 2F/2G), Duke Cardiology South Durham, and Duke Cardiology Raleigh, as needed to support patient care and operational needs. The APP will work in collaboration with attending physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to provide direct patient care services including but not limited to physical exams, collect & document data, order and conduct approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies, order and/or conduct professional consultations and prescribe appropriate interventions and medications.

The APP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting, and provides leadership to the organization and healthcare professions.

• Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's record;
  Document patient encounters, including progress notes and discharge summaries; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care;
  Document normal and abnormal findings for review by the physician.
• Order laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
• Carry out therapeutic procedures as necessary; monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physicians, and maintain record of each patient's progress.
• Participate in basic science and clinical research projects at the direction of the supervising physician.
• May make work assignments for assigned nursing and technical personnel; review the work of other staff; train new personnel.
• Participate in teaching physician assistant students techniques and procedures unique to cardiology.
• Pacemaker and defibrillator interrogation, evaluation and appropriate programming with appropriate documentation.
• Diagnosis and treatment of common arrhythmias, including prescribing and monitoring antiarrhythmic drug therapies.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
