The Biostatistics and Computational Biology Branch is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to carry out basic and applied statistical research relevant to environmental health.
About the positionThe Biostatistics and Computational Biology Branch develops new methodologies, as well as applies existing techniques in novel ways, to address pressing environmental health problems. Members of our branch advise institute scientists on computational, study design, database and statistical issues through both long-term and short-term collaborations across NIEHS.
The successful candidate will help develop methods to address problems in genetic, cancer, reproductive and/or environmental epidemiology. He/she will have the opportunity to work with data from a family-based study and large cohort projects. In methodologic work, we are interested in the use of genetic data to study epistasis and gene-by-environment interaction, in developing methods for estimating propensity for pregnancy complications, and approaches for studying etiologic heterogeneity.
However, research topics are not limited to these topics, and candidates with different topics of interest are encouraged to apply.
What you'll need to apply
Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae, a detailed statement of their research interests, and the names and contact information for three references to Dr. Clarice Weinberg at the email below.
Candidates should have or be very close to obtaining a Ph.D. in biostatistics, epidemiology, or a closely related area and have a strong interest in methodology. Programming skills are required. Excellent communication skills and fluency in both spoken and written English are also essential.
