The Statistics Leader will provide leadership and support relating to the biostatistics areas of statistics, statistical programming, clinical data management, medical writing & clinical submission for one or more ViiV Healthcare programs.
Responsibilities- Effectively manages delivery for medium‑scope projects, consistently delivering high‑quality statistical contributions against agreed timelines.
- Provides statistical leadership across projects, influencing program and study‑level strategy, design options, and development plans to improve efficiency, rigor, and impact.
- Serves as a key contributor to project planning and direction, prioritizing objectives and aligning statistical strategy with broader program goals.
- Applies technical expertise, sound judgement, and decision science principles to develop evidence‑based recommendations and proactively identify and mitigate statistical and data‑related risks.
- Leads and influences cross‑functional teams, effectively managing complex cross‑departmental issues to support project and program milestones.
- Accountable for the statistical validity and scientific integrity of data dissemination for supported programs.
- Prepares and delivers Headline Reports and related formal communications of clinical study results.
- Clearly communicates complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including senior managers and external stakeholders, and represents or defends statistical approaches in peer review and governance forums.
- Builds and leverages strong internal and external networks across ViiV, GSK, and the wider scientific community.
- Maintains awareness of, and interest in, the application of AI, advanced analytics, and innovative methodologies in HIV drug development.
- Contributes to statistical capability building through training, mentoring, and education across the organization.
- PhD in Statistics or a related quantitative field with at least 4 years post‑degree experience or MS/MSc in Statistics (or related quantitative field) with 7+ years of clinical development experience
- Experience supporting clinical development in pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO settings
- Infectious Disease experience
- Experience with Statistics aspects from study design to final analysis and dissemination.
- Experience with R and/or Python
- PhD in Statistics or Biostatistics
- Hands‑on expertise in statistical modeling and innovative methods (e.g., Bayesian approaches)
- Familiarity with causal inference and/or AI/ML methods, and demonstrated interest in applying these approaches (when appropriate) to clinical and/or non‑clinical data
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including relationship building and maintenance.
