Research Analyst I

The Song Lab at the Duke Transplant Center, part of Duke University School of Medicine, is seeking an excellent Lab Research Analyst I to assist with our research projects investigating anti‑allogenic humoral responses in transplant patients. The ideal candidate will have extensive laboratory experience in molecular and cellular biology and should be highly organized and detail oriented.

Minimum Requirements

Work requires a bachelor’s degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field.

Work requires two years of research experience. A related master’s degree may offset required years of experience on a 1:1 basis, e.g., a two‑year master’s degree in lieu of two years of experience. Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

This position is onsite. The work is performed on‑site or at a designated assignment location.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of research projects investigating anti‑allogenic humoral responses in transplant patients. Collect data via observation and experimentation. Operate lab instruments and equipment. Maintain accurate sample and laboratory records.
  • Prepare tissue, specimens, and other lab materials for experiments involving primary B cell culture, tumor cell line culture, flow cytometry, and molecular biology techniques such as RNA extraction, RT‑PCR, and NGS library preparation. Interpret and analyze data for reports and presentations. Consult with PI to determine appropriate experiments to be included in the research protocol.
  • Understand the underlying biology while closely following protocols for assays. Adhere to high standards of scientific rigor. Follow lab safety, chemical hygiene, and waste disposal procedures. Collaborate with other lab personnel and contribute to a positive productive research environment.
  • May train residents, interns, and students on lab techniques, procedures, and lab workflows.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $51,448.00 to USD $77,945.00.
