R&D Lab Technician II
The Peripheral Interventional group at Technologies and Innovation, located in Research Triangle Park NC, seeks a detail-oriented R&D Lab Technician II to join our team and work on testing new technologies for a range of medical devices. In this role, the associate will be a part of an R&D team contributing to establishment of test methods to assess the viability of technologies involving the chemical and material aspects of medical devices while supporting stability and degradation testing.
The successful candidate must have experience with basic lab techniques and be capable of learning new experimental tools. They will work with the project team members to execute technical assessment work in development of formulations and other medical device technologies/products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in completing test procedures, operating test equipment, and accurately recording measurements with limited supervision
- Daily use of laboratory tools and equipment such as weighing balance, pH meter, tensile testers and other measurement related formulation characterization for R&D processes
- Prepare and pack devices for stability assessment
- Communicate results and information verbally and in written form (reports, presentations)
- Willingness to occasionally work with biological specimens (e.g. tissues) for lab scale testing
- Assist with other projects as needed

• 2-4 years of industrial experience in R&D or process development, or associate's degree in chemistry or engineering with 1-2 years related experience
• Experience in a laboratory setting with basic knowledge of daily laboratory procedures, equipment utilization, setups, processes, device testing and safety protocols
• Hands-on laboratory experience working with various chemicals/materials. Experience in common chemistry lab procedures and tools
• High school diploma. Associate of Science degree in chemistry or engineering is preferred
• Willing to work independently and meet deadlines with little supervision
• Experience assembling device prototypes to configure a desired test method
• Experience preparing and testing therapeutic formulations such as adhesives and hydrogels, including weighing materials, following protocols, and conducting characterization measurements
• Previous experience testing medical devices
