Position: RESEARCH TECHNICIAN III

What You’ll Do

  • Perform a variety of laboratory experiments in support of research objectives
  • Prepare tissue samples for immunohistochemical analysis, including sectioning, staining, and imaging
  • Culture and maintain mammalian cell lines, including cryopreservation and record‑keeping
  • Analyze proteins using Western blot techniques
  • Conduct DNA and RNA purification procedures
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • Manage laboratory inventory and order supplies
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and results
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and biosafety protocols
  • Train and support new lab members and students
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory spaces
  • Perform additional related duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology, or another science‑related field.

Experience:

Two years of research experience. A related master’s degree may offset required experience on a 1:1 basis (e.g., a two‑year master’s degree in lieu of two years of experience) or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Buy@Duke procurement system
  • At least three years of experience in neuroscience, neuro‑oncology, or oncology research
  • Experience with cell culture, tissue sectioning, immunofluorescent staining, and microscopy
  • Experience managing or supporting laboratory operations
Anticipated Pay Range

USD $23.06–$34.96 per year, based on scope of responsibilities, candidate experience, education, and market factors.
