You will be joining the Process Development and Preclinical Manufacturing group of a biotherapeutics developer operating out of a purpose built life science lab campus in Research Triangle Park. The site is designed around central lab corridors with dedicated support infrastructure for CO2 and liquid nitrogen storage and hazardous waste handling, so the bench work is real and the equipment footprint is serious.

The group runs bench scale upstream cell culture on 3L, 7L and 15L bioreactor systems and supports downstream purification through automated chromatography and liquid handling platforms. This is a small, hands on team moving molecules toward preclinical readiness, which means you sit close to the science rather than running one repetitive station. Research Triangle Park itself is the largest research park in the country, occupying 7,000 acres and hosting more than 300 companies and roughly 65,000 workers.

• Bench scale bioreactor support: setup, calibration, sampling, troubleshooting, breakdown and decontamination
• Laboratory equipment calibration and preventive maintenance, plus glassware cleaning and autoclave operation
• Downstream purification support: cleaning and sanitizing chromatography, filtration and automated liquid handling systems

• Support daily operation of 3L, 7L and 15L bioreactor systems, including setup, calibration, troubleshooting, breakdown and decontamination
• Pull routine samples from ongoing cultures and log results
• Run daily calibration and verification checks on pH meters, cell counters and biochemical analyzers
• Clean, autoclave and stage glassware and consumables for upstream and downstream use
• Sanitize automated purification and liquid handling systems used by the downstream group
• Track preventive maintenance schedules across lab equipment and complete required tasks on time
• Record observations and data in both paper and electronic systems
• Order, receive and stock raw materials and lab consumables, keeping inventory at working levels
• Manage hazardous waste collection and disposal in line with lab safety procedures
• Execute established protocols under the direction of senior scientific staff

• Associate s or Bachelor s degree in biotechnology, biology, chemistry or a related life science field
• At least 1 year of hands on experience in an industrial, academic or research laboratory
• Working understanding of cell biology fundamentals and aseptic lab practice
• Comfort performing routine equipment calibration, cleaning, autoclaving and maintenance logging
• Ability to follow written protocols exactly and capture data accurately in paper and electronic systems

• Direct experience with AKTA chromatography systems, Protein Maker or Tecan liquid handlers
• Experience with TFF or other filtration systems
• Prior time in a process development or preclinical manufacturing group
• Bio Work certificate or community college biotechnology training (the North Carolina Community College System Bio Work program trains process technicians for biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturers) Research Triangle Regional Partnership

• Bachelor s degree in a life science discipline
