Turtle Gift Shop Sales Associate; Part-time

Description

The Bald Head Island Conservancy is seeking a seasonal part-time Sales Associate to support retail operations at Turtle Central Gift Shop. This position reports to the Business Manager – Retail and plays an important role in providing excellent customer service while supporting the Conservancy’s mission, programs, events, and membership initiatives.

• Actively greet customers, assist with product selection, and provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain knowledge of product features, pricing, and promotions.
• Utilize upselling and cross-selling techniques to enhance customer purchases.
• Operate the point-of-sale system, process payments, returns, and issue receipts accurately.
• Unpack, label, and organize merchandise while completing purchase order paperwork.
• Monitor inventory levels, restock shelves, and identify low-stock items.
• Assist with visually appealing displays and product presentations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and stock room.
• Support special summer events including Turtle Tuesday, World Sea Turtle Day, and Simply Southern Day.
• Communicate Conservancy programs, events, and membership opportunities to visitors.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Friendly, approachable, and able to work with diverse customers and staff.
• Understanding of sales techniques and retail operations.
• Ability to accurately handle transactions and inventory procedures.
  
  Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
• Ability to bend, lift, and carry boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb, stretch, and retrieve products from high shelves.
