The Sales & Marketing Associate plays an instrumental role in the growth of The Assembly Network’s business operation in specific North Carolina markets. The role develops and executes comprehensive sales strategies and delivers effective client solutions to achieve and exceed revenue targets. The role leads day‑to‑day sales activities for The Assembly Network’s Greensboro/Triad and Triangle media brands, including new business development, solution‑based selling, comprehensive client management, and both internal and external reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Advertising & Partnership Sales :
Drive new sales by identifying opportunities, pitching advertising and marketing solutions, and closing deals. Primary market responsibilities are Greensboro/Triad and the Triangle. - Pipeline Management :
Build and manage a strong pipeline of new sales prospects across key business categories, progressing prospects from initial discovery to revenue‑producing clients. This includes local, regional and statewide (as applicable) businesses. - Revenue Growth :
Consistently meet and exceed revenue targets through creative, solutions‑focused sales strategies that deliver on client needs. - Customer Success :
Manage the full customer engagement lifecycle. Set and manage client expectations appropriately for each sale, including features and benefits, costs, delivery and turnaround timelines, ad trafficking schedules, and campaign reporting. - Customer Growth :
Nurture strong relationships with existing clients through proactive communication and campaign reporting and analysis to secure renewals and limit churn. Actively look for opportunities to grow existing clients by identifying additional unmet needs. - Documentation :
Record key sales activities in a Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) and report regularly on progress to sales goals: successes, challenges, risks and emerging opportunities. - Sales Support :
Support the broader Assembly Network team by identifying clients appropriate for statewide enterprise sponsorship programs, assisting in opportunity assessment, outreach, packaging and client success. - Market Research :
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify potential opportunities and challenges. - Other :
Assist the revenue team in managing special projects and events across the network. - Report to and work alongside John Hurld, Director of Network Sales, to build strong foundational knowledge of products and processes, CRM, and sales/promotional materials for The Assembly Network’s portfolio of brands.
- Meet weekly with John to evaluate progress, strategize new opportunities, identify roadblocks, and create solutions to overcome the obstacles.
- Meet regularly with The Assembly Network sales team to coordinate on team‑wide opportunities, challenges and growth strategies.
- At least two years sales experience with an established or growing business (some knowledge of and/or experience in media is preferred, but not required)
- Professional networking experience, preferably in the Triad and/or Triangle markets, or North Carolina broadly
- Some experience using a CRM or other sales system to manage client relationships and track campaigns and orders
- Attention to detail, proactively managing client relationships, tracking campaign performance, and troubleshooting issues
- Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently, proactively doing client prospecting, building a sales pipeline, and working with a supervisor to share updates, successes, and challenges
- A passion for community engagement and local news
- Base pay will be $40,000 annually, plus 10% commission on all paid ad campaign insertions - new and renewals - by month. Compensation will be paid on a monthly basis and transferred to you on the last business day of each month.
