Job SummaryProvide professional public safety support to ensure the safety and security of the North Carolina State Governmental complex, including monitoring facilities, controlling access points, and responding to incidents. Conduct routine patrols, enforce regulation, and assist employees and visitors while maintaining a visible security presence. Support emergency response operations and collaborate with law enforcement to protect state property and the public.
SalarySalary Range: $31,200 - $46,502 per year.

- Monitor and control access to State Government buildings by screening visitors, issuing credentials, and enforcing security procedures.
- Conduct regular foot and patrols of buildings and surrounding grounds to deter, detect, and report suspicious activity or safety hazards.
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and incidents; take appropriate action to stabilize situations and notify supervisors or law enforcement as needed.
- Provide customer service by assisting employees, officials, and visitors with directions, information, and general inquiries while maintaining a professional presence.
- Prepare accurate reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation.
- Operate security equipment such as surveillance cameras, radios, and access control systems.
- Enforce state rules, policies, and applicable laws to maintain order and protect state property.
- Use security equipment (e.g., radios, switchboards/phones, flashlights, fire extinguishers, surveillance cameras, alarm panels, card access, or other electronic security systems).
- Patrol, monitor, and guard assigned area.
- Respond quickly and properly in emergency situations.
- Interact with co-workers, supervisors, and general public to provide assistance and relay information.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
Minimum:
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants may qualify through either years of education, years of directly related experience, or a combination of both. May require completion of emergency medical technician (EMT) training and maintain re-certification standards as required.
