Position Overview
Correctional Lieutenant III (S) located at Eastern Correctional Institution, Maury County, NC.
Responsibilities- Provide independent support to the Correctional Captain.
- Supervise subordinate staff, conduct shift line‑ups, assign shifts, and inspect personnel for physical and mental readiness.
- Complete, review, and maintain employee time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and other administrative forms.
- Conduct investigations as required.
- Account for persons and funds and ensure all assigned equipment is operational.
- Inspect daily offender living areas, medical, kitchen, and facility areas to identify safety hazards and maintain smooth operations.
- Identify training needs and coordinate delivery of training to staff.
- Conduct searches of staff, visitors, and offenders for contraband and respond to emergency situations.
- Serve as Officer‑in‑Charge when the Correctional Captain is absent.
- High School or GED diploma and 3 years as a Correctional Sergeant, or 2 years as a Correctional Sergeant III, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eligibility for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Negative drug screening result.
- Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of facility operations.
- Knowledge of prison policy and procedures.
- Supervisory skills in a prison facility.
- Report writing skills.
