About

the Role

This is a senior level Tower Technician (Level Four) that plays a critical role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications towers and related equipment across various sites in the United States. This position requires advanced technical expertise to ensure the structural integrity and operational efficiency of towers that support wireless communication networks. The technician will lead complex projects, troubleshoot sophisticated issues, and implement safety protocols to protect personnel and infrastructure.

Collaboration with engineering teams and clients is essential to deliver timely and high-quality service while adhering to industry standards and regulations. Ultimately, this role ensures uninterrupted communication services by maintaining the physical and technical aspects of tower infrastructure at the highest level.

Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications towers, antennas, and associated hardware.
  • Conduct detailed inspections and diagnostics to identify and resolve structural or technical issues.
  • Lead and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance on safety procedures and technical tasks.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to plan and execute tower-related projects efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies during all operations.
  • Document work performed, maintain accurate records, and report on project status and issues.
  • Operate specialized tools and equipment safely at heights and in various environmental conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in tower climbing and telecommunications equipment installation or maintenance.
  • Valid tower climbing certification and OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training.
  • Ability to work at heights exceeding 200 feet and in various weather conditions.
  • Strong understanding of telecommunications systems, RF equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Clean, unencumbered, and current driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a background screen, drug screen, and DOT driving qualifications.
  • Able to travel for work and be away from home for several weeks at a time, working in all types of weather.
  • Experience with fiber optic cable installation and testing.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Familiarity with GPS and mapping software for site documentation.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in tower technician roles.

The required skills enable the technician to safely and effectively perform complex tower installations and maintenance tasks, ensuring network reliability. Proficiency in climbing techniques and safety procedures is essential for working at significant heights and in challenging environments. Technical knowledge of telecommunications equipment allows the technician to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. Preferred skills such as fiber optic expertise and leadership abilities enhance the technician's capacity to manage diverse projects and mentor team members.

Daily use of communication and documentation skills ensures clear coordination with stakeholders and accurate reporting of work progress.
