Reporting directly to Facility Maintenance Supervisor IV, the primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, alter, and repair plumbing systems and components at the journey level of the plumbing trade.
Job Responsibilities- Perform journey level duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems.
- Routinely work on assignments where repair is needed and on assignments that involve work of special or unusual nature, which are accompanied by specific instructions.
- Use power tools associated with plumbing trade, cut and thread pipe, utilize motorized and mechanical tools, and be familiar with building, life, and safety codes.
- Solder copper pipe and utilize the standard tools and materials required for those procedures.
- Make material lists for projects and submit them to supervisor for review.
- Make up lead joints and install various types of plastic pipe; also have knowledge in replacing stainless steel and porcelain plumbing fixtures.
- Supervise semi-skilled male offenders and be subject to emergency call back.
Minimum
Education and Experience:
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the repair, replacement, or construction of piping systems.
- Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred
Skills:
- Working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of plumbing systems.
- May require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.
Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679
