The Licensed Plumber performs plumbing maintenance, repair, renovation, and installation work across all EPA-RTP facilities, including fire sprinkler systems. This position supports the facility's plumbing infrastructure and fire protection systems in compliance with North Carolina licensing requirements and applicable NFPA standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and renovation of plumbing systems throughout all EPA-RTP facilities
- Maintain and repair fire sprinkler systems in compliance with NFPA 13 and NFPA 25 standards
- Inspect, test, and repair all sprinkler systems per the PM Program schedule and applicable NFPA requirements
- Report all sprinkler system discrepancies to the COR/CLINCOR and prepare PMRs for major repairs requiring CO approval
- Respond to water damage events and support water damage repair activities under the Consolidated Construction STO
- Perform plumbing service calls including leak repairs, fixture replacement, and drain clearing
- Support food service equipment maintenance as it relates to plumbing connections and water supply
- Ensure compliance with all applicable North Carolina plumbing codes and federal regulations
- Coordinate with the COR/Permit Authorizing Individual (PAI) before disabling any portion of the fire suppression system
- Document all plumbing and sprinkler system work and inspections in the CMMS
Position Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with fire alarm systems, sprinkler control systems, renovations, and related work in commercial facilities
- State of North Carolina Class I Plumber's License (required)
- State of North Carolina Fire Sprinkler License (required; may be held by a separately designated employee on the technical staffing plan with CO approval)
- Familiarity with NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and applicable North Carolina plumbing and fire codes
- Experience in large commercial facility plumbing and fire suppression systems
- Ability to read plumbing and fire sprinkler system drawings
